Improved placement
You can find the "Improved Placement" function in the Inventor ribbon under "Assemble" tab, in the "Relationships" panel, when Inventor is in assembly mode.
Selection
In the Screw function, the program prompts you to select a circular edge on a screw. When the dialog starts, this button is already active, and the program expects your selection.
If there are other components that are connected to the selected screw through dependencies (e.g., a washer), the program will also copy those dependent parts.
After selecting the circular edge on a screw, the program automatically switches to the Hole function.
In the Hole function, you need to select the circular edge of a hole. The program then creates a copy of the previously selected screw and establishes a dependency between the selected edge on the copied screw and the edge of the hole.
You can click on additional circular edges after assigning the first screw. The program will insert an additional copy of the screw and create a dependency between the selected edge and the screw for each click.
When a screw and a hole are selected, you can use the Surface button to select a surface of a component. The program will then find all holes with a diameter matching the selected hole and insert a new copy of the screw into each of the found holes.
In the Offset field, you can enter the distance used when creating the dependency. The field also supports input of units of measurement (e.g., "10cm" or "25mm").
The checkbox Lock Rotation next to the Offset input field can be enabled to set the corresponding setting in the created Inventor assembly dependency.
In the Mode field, you choose whether an opposite or aligned dependency is created. If the program has already copied screws into the model, the mode of the last inserted screws will also be changed retroactively.
