Dimension Favorites Intro​

You can use this tool to store commonly used dimension tolerances as favorites. The stored settings can be applied to dimension objects in the drawing with a single click.

Add Favorite​

By clicking on this button, you create a new favorite in the list. The new list entry takes on the values set in the controls above. All changes to the configuration (adding/deleting/modifying properties) are automatically saved when the dialog is closed.

Delete Favorite​

The selected favorite will be deleted.

Apply Favorite​

By clicking on this button, you initiate a selection prompt in the drawing, which applies the currently selected favorite to the selected dimensions in the drawing. The mouse cursor changes to a selection cursor, and only dimensions can be selected. The selection process works in a loop. When you click on a dimension, the favorite is applied directly, and you can select additional dimensions. To exit the selection loop, press the 'ESC' key on the keyboard.

Dimension Properties​

The controls at the top of the dialog pertain to the selected favorite. When an entry in the list is selected, the values of that entry are loaded into the text fields or menus. Conversely, you can directly adjust the values in the currently selected favorite by modifying the text or selected menu options at the top.

Symbol​

Here, you can select a symbol from the Autodesk Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (AIGDT) font set for geometric dimensions. The symbol will be inserted as the first element in the dimension text.

Prefix/Suffix​

When applying a favorite, the program automatically creates a new local dimension style. The two texts are entered into the "Prefix" and "Suffix" properties of this dimension style. The prefix is displayed by Inventor before the actual dimension text, and the suffix is displayed after it.

Tolerance Type​

From the dropdown menu, you can select one of the tolerance types supported by Inventor (analogous to the "Tolerance Method" field in the Inventor "Edit Dimension" dialog).

Tolerance Values / Fits​

Depending on the selected tolerance, the parameters can be entered through the two text fields or selected from the dropdown menus that appear for fit tolerances instead of the text fields. Some tolerance methods require no or only one parameter, in which case the unused text fields are disabled accordingly.

Color​

The dimension text and dimension lines can be highlighted in color. Click on the colored (initially black) box above the "Color" column to select a color through a helper dialog.
