Collective Indications

surfaceContainer

Use this command to turn the selected surface symbol in the drawing into a collective label. The program then displays all surface symbols used in the sheet in brackets behind the selected symbol.

Usage

This command does not have its own dialog. To create a composite callout, insert any surface finish symbol in the desired location using Inventor. Select the surface finish symbol and click on the 'Composite Callout' button in the multitool toolbar. If the symbol is already used as a composite callout, the program will display a dialog asking if you want to remove the composite callout.

Functionality

As shown in the example image below, the composite callout symbol consolidates all surface finish symbols on the sheet. Identical symbols are combined (e.g., in the image below, "Rz4" and "Rz6" are inserted multiple times, but they appear only once in the composite callout). As long as the multitool add-in is loaded, changes to the surface finish symbols are automatically captured and reflected in the composite callout. In the example below, if the "Rz2" symbol (which appears only once on the sheet) is deleted, the composite callout will automatically update and contain only the "Rz4" and "Rz6" symbols.
